Hello,

Question:
Can someone explaine me what for consequences the underneath variables from table 4.5 give?

Into of my thought:
The european norm (now entering a ISO normation) tells me that when I qualify a Butt groove type it qualifies also other butt groove types. When it is a single side welded groove is qualifies also a both side welded groove. When I look at the underneath I get the impression that I don't have those ranges with the AWS D1.1 (2006)

Quotation out of AWS D1.1 (2006) Table 4.5:
No 31
A change in groove type (e.g., single-V
to double-V), except qualification of any CJP
groove weld qualifies for any groove detail
conforming with the requirements of 3.12
or 3.13

No 33
A change exceeding the tolerances of 3.12,
3.13, 3.13.4, 5.22.4.1, or 5.22.4.2 involving:
a) A decrease in the groove angle
b) A decrease in the root opening
c) An increase in the root face

Thanks in advance!

You do, but you have to qualify a CJP groove weld to get ya qualified for both single V and double V as well as follow all the guidelines of 3.12, 3.13, 5.22.4.1, 5.22.4.2.  I think that's what you're asking.
