UT Tech Certification Per D1.8

Good Day All,
I was wondering if anyone here has any experience that they'd care to share in regards to the supplemental
examination requirements for Level II & III ultrasonic technicians performing work goverened by AWS D1.8.
It appears that the requirment extends to Lvl III personnel performing hands-on UT inspection even in the when
the UT Lvl. III has been certified "BY ASNT" as opposed to individuals certified by an employer "in accordance with....".
Is this a correct interpretation on my part ?

If they are performing hands on work, they should test. 7.2.4 seems clear to me.

I agree with CWI above,

I am an ASNT Level III in UT.
I also do "hands on" UT inspections from time to time.
I have another ASNT UT Level III give me a "practical" exam, and a written "specific" exam to qualify to to the AWS d1.1 code work.
(I also get the vision test too).
