Okiewelder I really like your bed Where in oklahoma are you at. I am currently at the Lincoln Electric School for pipe welding. I will be headed back to Fort Worth on the 13th of june. And Im thinkin about coming back through oklahoma So I can stop at Bill's welder repair. Seeing how I just bought a Sa200 that needs a little TLC

I'm new to this site, I notice that you are using either propane or chem-tane 2 for your torch rig, how do you like it ?

Man, that's probably working real steady on it. You're clippin' right along. Fantastic job. Your lines & contours really make it pop. Are you welding everything up & grinding the corners out, or getting it broke, then assemble? Probably 3/16" sheet? Just wondered. I've always wanted a bed with a bigger machine than I have (little trailblazer 302) but not being in the pipe business, I just can't justify another truck & all the headache that goes along with it. Real SWEET job! You made your bed....Go weld with it! Sorry, I couldn't resist! S.W.

I hear that, Ruger is my protector, but I know around here some of these guys are gettin robbed blind.
Parent - - By sbcmweb (****) Date 06-02-2008 00:58
No doubt! With copper @ $3.00++ a pound, people are even stealing pipes out of empty houses. The city of Las Vegas has even set up a dedicated division of their police department, just to deal specifically with copper theft. Fortunately, I have my rig in a place that for the most part, is unaccessible to sticky fingers. I have over 500' of 1/0 & it would cost a fortune to replace. Almost need to make some steel boxes to cover your lead, or stick it in a lock box. I would still keep that Blackhawk handy....Just in case! Stay safe out there! Welcome to the forum. Some real good folks here. S.W.

This is by far my favorite web-site, its not only copper, the company that I do most of my work for had over 10,000 dollars of diesel stole in two week time period.
Parent - By sbcmweb (****) Date 06-02-2008 01:15
That really sucks. Only thing that does is make the prices higher for the honest folks just trying to get by. Hopefully one day, the ones stealing will realize that they're only hurting themselves. I'd still keep that Ruger handy..... Ain't wasting any brass or lead on that investment, for sure!

And yes, I can say I think this is my favorite site too.

Hopefully we didn't rob the thread about welding beds. some real sweet stuff here. S.W.

I noticed that you are running a Classic II Lincoln, do you like that machine, it has the Duetz oil cooled engine right. I have a 97 model SA250 and a 07 model Vantage 300. The Vantage was by far the best choice for riggin out a truck.
Parent - - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-03-2008 01:01
yes i really like the classic 2 but im getting ready to get a classic 300 or vantage 400
Parent - - By texwelder (***) Date 06-03-2008 01:03
Why the Vantage 400, thats a lot of machine
Parent - - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-03-2008 01:23
i used one and liked the way that it welded lo-hi
Parent - By texwelder (***) Date 06-03-2008 01:34
I love my 300, and they burn those lo-hi rods, I've also used mine to arc-gouge it works pretty good for that, the only problem I've had with mine is those GFCI plugs went out in the first 20 hours or so. They are very easy to replace.
Parent - - By jeff parker (**) Date 06-03-2008 02:47
thinking of buying a vantage 300 or a classic 300 trying to figure out which one would be the best one to go with for rigging out my truck any help thanks.
Parent - - By texwelder (***) Date 06-03-2008 02:57
My old man had a classic 300 nice machine but not much aux-power and heavy, the vantage 300 short in height and length and only weighs 1035 lbs. I've run 3/16 5p+ on my vantage does pretty good and is easy on the fuel.
Parent - - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-05-2008 21:44
think im going with the 300d
Parent - - By texwelder (***) Date 06-06-2008 02:37
okiewelder2

Nice choice I think you will be very pleased it does run smooth, and they have that classic look, I like my Vantage 300 but almost to modern lookin.
Parent - - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-09-2008 00:55
i loaded up the 200 today until i get the 300d
Parent - - By 52lincoln (***) Date 06-09-2008 00:56
somebody told me that they stopped production on the 200 & 300d's
Parent - - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-09-2008 00:59
i dont know i havent heard. my 200 is a 76 model
Parent - - By 52lincoln (***) Date 06-09-2008 01:00
im talking about the pipeliner 200d
Parent - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-09-2008 01:03
i thought that is what you were talking about. did you here anything about why they would stop production
Parent - - By texwelder (***) Date 06-09-2008 01:04
Not that I've heard I know a guy that just bought 2 300d's about 6 months ago, don't know anybody that even owns a 200d, there more money than the 300d, don't ask me why.
Parent - - By 52lincoln (***) Date 06-09-2008 01:11
i heard that lincoln want warranty the generator becuase they dont make it.also that none of the generator parts were made by lincoln.they were having to many recalls on the 200d's.i haven't heard that about the 300's though
Parent - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-09-2008 01:16
i heard that over the last few years they were so busy that they had  some machines built in canada and i think mexico and that is why they had problems with some years and not others
Parent - - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-09-2008 01:13
if you look on the home depot web site they are selling the 200d cheaper than the 300d at last weekend they were. i didnt even know they would sell a big machine so i checked at lowes and they were almost 2000 higher
Parent - - By texwelder (***) Date 06-09-2008 01:48
lowes and home depot sell big machines like that, When I bought my vantage300 a year ago the 200d was about 1500 higher than 300d. The 300d was 3000 higher than my vantage I gave 8700 for
Parent - - By okiewelder2 (**) Date 06-09-2008 20:50
yeah i just found out you could get a big machine through them by accident, but i dont think you can get the vantage 300 or 400
Parent - By texwelder (***) Date 06-17-2008 02:12
Say fellas lets get some more of those welding rig pics on here man, I like to see some of fabrication you fellas can do.
