Use one that works for you. Since time is money, use a 200amp clamp style not the twisty style.  Again, it's all user preference.

TwecoTong: 200-300 amp. You can bend that rod to suit you any way you want it. The twist ones are too expensive & moving parts to break inside. Couldn't ever get used to them either.  My 2 cents anyways. :-) S.W.

Try a DURO holder. I used one about 10 years ago and still use them now. They are a tong type holder

pipeliners use what is call a T300 as stated above.  to be honest with you for what reason i dont know.  I use a tweeco 200 amp because i have little hand and when your gloves and your legs get sweaty,,and your knees on the ground,,that damn T300 with no insulators will lite your ass up on occasion.  i cant use em,,,ive tried,,,the springs wear out to quick from heat.  to each his own,,,i just prefer comfort over looks andyday,,but regardless,,,it aint what ya got its how you use it

I'm told the Lincoln t-300 is chosen for durability and price, but it seems to me that one big inadvertent arc strike is going to cost a bucketfull of Twecos somewhere down the line.

yeah u gotta be mindful at all times where that thing is hangin kinda like yur johnson so 2 speek :)

I never could figger out why they use those. I'm used to laying the stinger on the pipe when I take a break, you can't do that with those. Seems l;ike they're so paranoid about arc strikes they wouldn't touch 'em. Must be a tradition thing. Same with pancake hoods, first time I got a spark on my lip that thing was history.

I think the pancake is great but I think these make a better ground than rod holder! Here's a pic from the forum.
