Hello, I am planning on welding up some tube bumpers for my truck, and I want to use cromoly over steel, but I only have a gas welder. I was wondering if you can fusion weld cromoly using oxy fuel welding process? (Not brazing, I dont want the gold look)
If so, what type of filler rod should I use? What about pre/post heating the metal?
Thanks

ER80S B2 (1-1/4 Cr) or ER90S B3 (2-1/4 Cr) will probably work.

If it's something different than that, post what it is and I'll see if I can find you something.

If your gas welding it, pre-heating it shouldn't be necessary, especially in the thickness range your dealing with.

Good Luck
