Where at in central west texas, I'm not certified, do have insurance, and try to get 65 an hour. Been welding for about 13 years.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-12-2008 00:20
Certifications we will do on site, you will need to get insurance. If you live in Texas call Vivian Moore she is in Victoria and Rig Welders are her main job. Just tell her you need a basic rig welders policy she will hook you up. Her # is 361-485-1901   The test will be 1" Plate V-butt with backer strap Vertical and overhead 7018 1/8

What kind of pay, would I work for you or the company
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-12-2008 00:34
I work for the company. If your are interested send me an email. All of the details will be in place by the middle of next week. From what I have been told so far they are going to pay just like the other yards in the area which is about 55.00 an hour and you furnish. the same as Patterson , Scan and a few others Spindletop is paying 50 and they have a waiting list for welders with several Years of rig building under their belt. I am sure , as with all yards, you will get all the hours you want.

got a buddy with a trailblazer 302. can he get on?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-12-2008 03:11
Trail blazers are ok.  I would draw the line on Bobcats or Ranger 8 and machines of that size. They just dont hold up in the oilfield

is the pay weekly or monthly???
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-14-2008 12:29
Trying to get them to pay bi weekly
Parent - - By shorthood55 (*) Date 06-15-2008 04:06
BI-WEEKLY!?! Rig yards usually pay weekly. The ones that don't pay weekly are the ones that you will usually have trouble getting your money from. I know guys that think they are making money and end up broke do to rig yards that say they will pay bi-weekly or monthly and won't pay at all. On the day you are supposed to get payed they give you some excuse that Fed-Ex didn't get there on time or the computers at the corporate office were down etc.. So you work a few more days waiting on your check thinking you are making money but actually you are working for FREE!  SO BEWARE!!! Then again this doesn't always happen but two weeks is a long time to have your money tied up while you are paying for fuel and supplies. Is this job for a drilling contractor or a rig building company?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-15-2008 11:35 Edited 06-15-2008 11:42
Maybe in Oklahoma they pay weekly. Here in Texas they pay different. For instance Patterson, After 30 days you go into the system to get paid every 2-3 weeks. Scandrill pays every 30 days Spindletop pays every 2-3 weeks etc... Pioneer pays every 30 days. Check them out if you want to.
Parent - - By shorthood55 (*) Date 06-16-2008 01:46
I am a native Texan from West Texas and have never worked out of state. I have always gotten paid weekly, when I work in rig yards in TEXAS. Pioneer is an oil company not a drilling contractor. Yes when you are doing a job out in the field is when you get paid every 30-120 days ,I don't have a problem with that. Its when you are in their yard day in and day out , and when its time for pay day is when they come up with excuses. I have worked for Patterson UTI in their yard and they always paid weekly,l have also worked with them out in the field and they paid every 30 days. As far as Scandrill and Spindletop those are companies that are unheard of in west texas.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-16-2008 02:07 Edited 06-16-2008 02:14
Well I guess Im have been mistaken I always thought that When you own a drilling rig (or Several of them) and you work  for Companys like XTO, Chesapeake, North Texas LLano (oil companies) Then you are considered a drillng contractor (like Pioneer) And it also seems to me that before you changed your profile and listed your info as hidden, that your name is Darren Fischer from Oklahoma city. At least that is what you told me when we spoke on the phone. And it USED to be on your profile. and you had it on Graigslist If you are a different shorthood, my apology. I would change my name if it is not you. There are alot of unhappy customers of yours on here. By the way, I checked with Henry May (director of ALL patterson welders nationwide) and according to him, Patterson has never paid regularly on a weekly basis.( in the yard or field. I worked in thier Tyler yard for 2 years) Also you should check out Pioneer the oil companies website it is www.pioneerdrilling.com(hence drilling contactor) Bottom line is this If you have a better deal and you get paid weekly, STAY WHERE YOU ARE. I have been in this buis. 28 years and that is rare. If you are looking for a job, send me an E-Mail

Cactus,
Please excuse me for butting in, but I believe you are thinking of "shorthood 2006" Darrin. While this could possibly be the same person under a differant username, I am in doubt of it. The reason I say this is that I am not sure one can have two user ID's under the same member #. It appears that both useres are still active. This is pure speculation on my part of course, as I have come to find out that some of the information for register dates is not accurate, and maybe one can have two user ID's under one membership.

Anywho, just thought I would throw that in for you to ponder.

Good luck,
jrw159

Well I did say that if it is the wrong Shorthood, My apologies. However the rest of the info I have stated is correct and anyone can check it out. And by the way, This is an open forum and in NO WAY do I think you are butting in.
Parent - By jrw159 (*****) Date 06-16-2008 14:04
Cactus,
Yes, you showed class. And just from what I know, you are correct in the rest of your info. :-)

All one has to do is a quick search for "shorthood2006" and this will prove to be at the very least "interesting reading" LOL.

I am not "Shorthood 2006" I am a totally different guy. As far as Pioneer goes I thought you were talking about Pioneer Natrural Resources which is an oil company that is going pretty strong out here in West Texas. When anybody says Pioneer, out here, usually everybody knows who you are talking about. Never heard of Pioneer Drilling until now. Well I am sorry if I have caused any confusion with the "Shorthoods" and "Pioneers".

No problem ! My mistake
Parent - - By dbigkahunna (****) Date 06-15-2008 15:05
Then you file a mechanic lien against the rig. Until that lien is settled, the rig cannot be sold.
It cost around $500 in Texas to do it.
It makes them maddrenhell when you do it and there are all kinds of threats that will be thrown at you.
BABRT
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-15-2008 16:57
I agree on the lien. I have never had a Drilling company or an oil company NOT pay. Some times it takes a while but that is just Buisness. Chesapeake for example, You can bill them $100.00 an hour and they don't care. I work for them alot. XTO is the same way. IT WILL take you about 120 days to get paid
Parent - - By bullsnbets (**) Date 06-15-2008 19:39
I built rigs for a local company where I live, and over a span of 16 months they wrote me 3 hot checks. I had 2 trucks working for them, so having that much expense out then getting a hot check really tends to get to ya. They made em right, but certainly makes a fella leary. Now I'm pipelining for another local company and have had no problems what-so-ever. Gotta love pipe. Makes life easier.

However, I got your reply Cactus. Let me know when you get all the details.....ie, pay, location and such.

Fish are bitin'! See ya fellas.

THANK YOU!!!!
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 06-16-2008 02:11
Always check out the company who owns the rigs. Your bank can tell you if they are credit worthy. and if you are working for a sub on their rigs then you should have no problem getting paid.
