CJP vs. PJP

There seems to me to be a conflict between A2.4, 4.2.2 Complete Joint Penetration and D1.1, 3.12.1 PJP Requirements, Definition. The question arose that when a bevel weld is called for on a joint with no depth indicated, is this a CJP or PJP?

I hope that wasn't too confusing.

cjp per AWS A2.4 6.2.2 (07)
Omitting the depth of bevel and groove weld size dimensions from the welding symbol requires a groove weld that extends through the thickness of the joint.
