Happy Father's Day to everyone !  my name is ronnie im 36yrs old. I have currently been accepted into Miller Motte Tech College starting the 16th of July. My goal is pipe welding, after 24 months I will have an applied science degree  I have recently found pipefitters local 572 in nashville online My question is should I complete the techical college first or should I try to go through the union? Any input would be very helpful to me. Thank You very much

If you will graduate with a AS then by all means get the degree! This could open doors in the future an apprentice position would not. If you were 19 I would tell you to go for the apprentice position and get the degree later.
But you are at later. In two years you will be 38 with a degree. With a welding background and experience you could qualify for a CWI much sooner than just welding.
At 38 is is a LOT easier to inspect than it is to weld.
