I'm really surprised to see that the 2008 edition of D 1.1 has been pushed back again to July/ August.

Does this mean there's a big change to the format?

Hope there aren't as many typos as the 06 edition.

I'd be happy if they just got a better book binding company so the book stays together in one piece!

For the price it should be hard bound. LOL :-)

John,

I agree - except for the "LOL" part!  You'd think the darm thing would stay in one piece.  Guess that means we're using them!

Yeah, thinking about it it really is not funny. And as for me, I use it as well. They should understand that we do not purchase these books just to have on the shelf.

I would like to see it available in loose leaf form so I could put it in a 3 ring binder easier.

Every D1.1 I have had since 2002 has the holes punched in it already so that when, not if, it falls apart, you can utilize a three ring binder. I just needed to use it a couple of times and "viola" loose leaf. :-)

glad to see someone else besides myself making their own "loose leaf" codebooks. I have just about perfected the coverless codebook too, will let you know how it turns out!

I think by the time the 08 version comes out it will be time to order the 2010 version.

We ordered a copy in Feb so the college would have it in the library for reference.  The fiscal year is now at an end and the thing has not arrived. Bean counters calling to ask about the order, bean counters calling Miami asking about the order.

Sheesh.

National standards are not *required* to be published every two years..  I think the committee might be wise to think about limiting revisions to every 3-5 years...  While that strategy would remedy the embarrassing problem of continued late publication (this isn't the first time)  it would cut into the profitability of book sales.

Maybe that would be balenced by the lack of need to produce a new D1.1 gigantic test bank for the CWI exam every two years........ While the D1.1 code is written by volunteers... I'm pretty sure those CWI/SCWI exams are contracted out at no small expense.  It must take a PHD in education to conjur up a bank of questions as tricky, trap laden and confusing as what is presented for that exam.
