I would like to know CWI Part B specification code says about visual weld inspection acceptance criteria. If the weld for 1" the sume of porosity shall not exceed 3/8 what does mean? what is the single porosity for 1" weld length. I don't know the answer. my second question is If the porosity is 7/16" in 1" length is it acceptable for 12" length of the weld. thank you.

Please read AWS D1.1:2006, Table 6.1(8) very carefully and then look at the question again.....that verbage in that Table 6.1 will answer your question.
Remember to use the correct column of the chart that applies to the question. The shaded boxes mean that it does not apply to certain types of connections(see the Note at the bottom of the table).

Good Luck

BTW, the sum of porosity means that you add them up.....ie. 3 pores measures 1/8" each  = 3/8"
