Sounds like total Hack Master labor. Aerotek hires temps for all kinds of factory labor here in Michigan. Generally low pay & tons of overtime. Just thought I would pass it along. S.W.

Read welding symbols to include J-weld, Fillet-weld, and Bevel-weld  - 3 out of 50 i can do that

Be familiar with decimal system for dimensioning - not familiar with using the decimal system for this application

Be familiar with dimensional tolerancing up to +/- 100,000" to no smaller than 10,000" - do it all the time

Pass a weld test to include Vertical, Horizontal, and Flat at 1/4 or .25" - I'll go for the .25" as i am fimiliar with the decimal system. i tried the 1/4" one time, never again

Possess own tools w/ capability of attaining any tools they do not have - I can attain any tool i need. Where is the tool box?

Will possess (but not necessary) certifications in the areas of SMAW, FCAW, and Arc/Stick to include 60/10 and 70/18 - I currently do not necessarily posses the these certs.

and Arc/Stick to include 60/10 and 70/18 - ?

Performing MIG and Flux Core welding (primarily military grade wire) on hard plate steel - i weld hard plate, typically

Layout of material with the utilization of JIGS - sorry all I've ever used were fixtures (are you still allowed to say that?)

Not the way to attract professionals. You should be familiar with the terminology of the field your recruiting for

Like I said in the first post, Bro.....They are a generic hiring service that usually brings in huge batches of temps, or temporary management to big firms like GM. Low pay, LOTS of overtime. We had dozens of temp managers from there in the old plants. Most of them were total Morons. They are NOT looking for professionals. They are trolling, looking for chumps with no life willing to work for nothing & 7 days a week. Most places that use hiring services like this have difficulty getting quality employees, then getting them to stay if they do. They dress the job up to be some great deal, only to find it's an 80+ hour a week hack shop with a 60% turnover rate on a bi-annual basis.

Bad, bad, bad! :-( S.W.

I am personally packing the truck! Found my dream job! It will only take two weeks to recover the cost of fuel to get there! Then I have to work on housing, but I will figure that out as the job progresses! Surely they will see how willing I am to get the job done, and I will quickly ascend the ranks!

Jigs & Fixtures: Technically speaking, a fixture holds the work, and a jig guides/positions the tool. So You have welding fixtures and drill jigs as examples. Those pushing for political corectness just have to live with it. They still make jig bore and jig grinder machine tools, that is just the way it is.

My understanding is that a fixture holds a part, etc. A jig is a movable fixture. (At least where I was taught it was.) Could be as wide as an application of the term "Weldor & fabricator!" Let's NOT go thru that again!! S.W.

I wish my aerotech guys could do half of whats required by you!

I F*ING hate going through a recruiter god I hate these people. I have called them three times never again I'd rather go work for Burger King then deal with them. I called them once to find out about a tig job and after like 10 minutes on the phone getting all my info found out the job was like over 100 miles away was hoping it to be local what a waste of time and it wouldn't be bad if it paid worth a darn. Big companys can't be serious going through these people are they?? never again

Get this. I had them call me, getting my name off a friend's resume. This was a couple months ago. The dude asked me about anyone I knew who could run a wire EDM. He made it sound like he had personally obtained my name from a friend, when in actuality, he had "ripped" it from his resume without him even knowing. The great part about it was, he tried to court ME for a job position doing something entirely different after getting me on the phone! I had half a mind to call them back when I found out, but it's a waste of time. They're trollers & they're just throwing out the net, trying to haul in as many marks as they can. The agents making the calls & doing the actual "hiring" most likely make a commission on the number of people they contact, or interview.

THEY ARE NO MORE THAN A MASS HIRING AGENCY LOOKING FOR MEDIOCRE LABOR TO FILL HIGH HOUR, LOW PAYING POSITIONS THE COMPANIES CAN'T FILL THEMSELVES! THEY WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING YOU WANT TO HEAR TO GET YOU ON BOARD. KINDA LIKE AMWAY.

Not for me......Sorry! S.W.

Don't count on it. They're a joke for the most part. I speak from personal experience with many Aerotek temps. S.W.
Parent - - By ctacker (****) Date 06-24-2008 13:34
Thats what I meant, I have 4 guys from aerotech, and not one has the qualifications that first post is seeking! I do have a couple temps from another agency that are some of the best welders in the shop!

With all they skim off the top they should be forced to face a well deserved boycott.  If all people really hold out for their own representation, parasites like these would be put out of business.

What gets me is that , for inspection anyways, they want ALL the perks, certs, NDE certs, clean driving record, and I mean CLEAN, all for bottom of the barrel wages. HAA!!

If you want top of the line IT IS GOING TO COST YOU. Nobody rides for free. :-)

If I wanted to inspect for $19 and hour and no bennies, I would.....never mind, I do not want to. LOL

from what I've seen, they ask for all the perks, but will settle for one. also, it doesnt cost them anything to send a guy our way to give them a test, if they pass, they collect, fail and their out nothing. meanwhile I(not me, but my company) spend hundreds testing one welder they send that cant weld or anything else related! maybe 1-2 in 10 welders will pass the 3G 1" plate using 1/16" FCAW-g and then half of the ones hired only last a week or so.
Parent - By makeithot (***) Date 07-01-2008 01:31
$15 - $18 an hour WOW can they really afford to pay those high rates. Someone over there needs to give there grape a dust. We are not in the 70's anymore.
