OK, I realize this may be a somewhat involved of a question for the very first post of a new subject but here goes.
A563 grade A and B nuts are not required to have a "grade marking" stamp/ identification on them. So how do you know if its a grade A or B if there is no mark?
Am I to assume that's what it is because there isn't anything there? (and we all know how uncomfortable we get when we assume).
These grade A nuts are used for a grade A307 bolt which is in a non structural bolt. Basically we are shipping parts to the field with this bolt/ nut assembly. It's just that I don't like having non tracable hardware on the shop floor. I have to be VERY careful to make sure my guys don't use them anywhere else except for where they are called out onthe drawing.
I had to call the supplier who confirmed to me that these are in fact grade A nuts, other wise I don't have anyway to tell.
Usually we deal with grade C and up and they have all the proper markings, and are the heavier bigger nut. Visually you can look at them and see the difference.
Any thoughts would be welcome
Chris
