Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / Off shore oil rig welding?
- - By Tommy S Date 07-03-2008 04:22
Hi, My names Tommy I just graduated tech school with a 6G welding certification (S.M.A.W.) and need information on oil rig work.
I really want to work on an rig somewhere but i have no idea where to go (or not go) and have tons of questions. If there is anyone out there that can answer any of these
questions or give their input, it would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to get a job fresh out of school? Does it pay more to travel across the world, or should I stay local? How do I figure out who is hiring? What kind of things do you weld? What kind of pay should I expect with no rig experience?
I love hard work, long hours and am dertimned to make a good carrer for myself.

     Thank you,
      Tommy
