I was asked to find out the best electrode to use for welding T-1. The thickness ranges from 1 to 2 inches. The product in question will be used for shearing stumps and will be subjected to several different types of loads. We currently use many 70ksi. electrodes (ex. Lincolns 71M and MH, L-50, NS3M, and MC710) are they sufficient for this material or would an electrode with a higher tensile strength be preffered? Also any help with pre and post weld treatment would be appreciated. Your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated thank you for your time and knowledge.
