I was on the ramweldingsupply.com website, and I am about to purchase some jack stands with the rollers for welding pipe. I thought I would check my LWS which is Airgas. I only buy from Airgas when I have to because of their high prices and near total monopoly in my area. Airgas was telling me that the brand which I was looking at [Sumner] will show a picture of their best jackstand at the price shown, but will actually send a cheaper made version for the stated price. I kind of liked the fold up version or just the heavy duty version that doesn`t fold up. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Im pretty sure Sumner wouldn't do that.We would have already herd that story on here. Sounds like BS or sour grapes. The LWS can't change their prices like they could when they were locally owned. jmo

No offence but alot of those counter guys don't know anything. They my know the cataloge front to back but they ain't been welding. I bet Sumner doesn't make a "cheap" jack. This makes me mad for some reason! Give them a call they may be real interested to know about  your experiance.

Nah ....you get exactly what you see. I ordered some folding sumners in the PAC-Jack models and got them 3 dollars above what the local praxair pays wholesale on them. No you get exactly what is advertised with RAM

Sounds like the same Airgas BS. Just like RP said. The counter guys usually know about squat. I like Airgas less & less every day. They have totally monopolized the supply industry & hold the customer hostage with high prices & little options. I won't buy anything from them. Fortunately, we have a great Independent supplier here in Lansing. S.W.

I have purchased a lot of tools & equipment from RAM and have never had anything substituted or mis-represented.

i also like ram welding supply never had a problem with them. i also hate airgas, the problem with airgas is they dont want to mess with the little guy they only want the big accounts, i wont buy from them either. ive noticed that in the last few years alot of companies act like they are doing u a favor when they sell u something or u spend your money for a service. i myself will pay extra for a quality product or quality service and if i dont get either of those i dont return to that place of business.

Thanks for the input guys, I will deal with Sumner. One other thing I forgot to mention, the guy at Airgas told me I would have to pay $300 for a good fold up stand. I thought that was quite high. If that was the case I would make my own. But after listening to your input,I`ll purchase them from ramweldingsupply.com Thanks again.
