OK, so its not exactly for the chickens, but they do ride on the equipment. I'm doing some training for a chicken processing plant. To all the vegetarians out there, I hope you were not offended by my attempt at a little humor. The material is 10 gauge stainless angle and tubing, they are using the Tig process. Does anyone see anything wrong with welding down when making the vertical welds on structural material used for assembly line frames, conveyor frames, and just general use worktables?

Thank you for your time and replies.

YES YOUR ARC WILL BE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE WELD POOL. WHICH WILL RESULT IN ALL KINDS OF DISCONTINUITIES. ALSO YOU WILL HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING THE PROPER SHIELDING OUT OF YOUR GAS.

you can weld down keep your torch at 50 to 60 degrees and pulse
it every time your heat goes on add some rod
(if your welder doesen't have a pulser use your foot  you'll get the rythem )
it helps if you put a small bevel  on your parts .you only need about a .040 bevel per side use small dia rod
.035 to .045 .when ever you have to weld down ..turn your welder down a notch and dont try to go to fast.
