Does anyone have any great advice for a 20 something that has been in the sheet metal and semi-conductor industry for the past ten years. Mainly TIG welding light gauge stainless, I also went though a Apprenticeship for over three years doing sheet metal layout just after high school.

Currently the past 5 years I have been welding high purity stainless tube in a clean room environment (class 100) mainly using an orbital app. I have learned to create various weld schedules with the power supplies we use. But is there demand for this skill set?

I would love to relocate to the Austin Texas area but I after looking online it does not seem to have many decent paying jobs.

I know the semiconductor industry seems to be pretty big out there, but it is hard to tell which companies have demand for welders.

Can anyone help me?

i know 2 rig welders making 70 bucks an hour 12 hours per day. Welding stainless indoors. Just fabbing fittings. the work is out there....ya just have to beat the bushes. take a week off and hit every weld shop within 50 miles of Austin. you will find it.

the midwest is where alot of the oil and gas exploration is going on. You must be willing to travel or relocate expecially if you are in oregon.
