One of our vessel needs PWHT (ASME Sec VIII div 1), vessl thk is 45mm but UCS-56 states for P No 1 material upto 2" thk 15 minutes minimum holding time. Is it acceptable?

UCS-56 requires 1 hour per inch (25mm), 15 minutes minimum so if your vessel is 45mm thick, 15 minutes would NOT be acceptable since 45mm is obviously greater than 25mm your soak time would be closer to 2 hours.

thanks for the reply. 15 minutes is only minimum but for 45mm thk it is around 2 hrs.

Thanks for advice.

I don't believe maximum soak time is a code issue, more tuned to be an engineering issue and depending on alloy, service requirements.

And whether impacts are imposed.
