What is the COMMON thought on Fannie Maes problem whos fault is it?
Did the republicans cause this in some way?
I want to hear what others think before i bring some interesting things up about Fannie Mae and who i think should take some ...Not all....just some of the responsiblity.

People wanting what they can't afford and Feeling entitled

That is exactly how i feel, one thing i have learned in life is always leave youself an out to any and every situation, but even though the ultimate responsibilty lands on the people who never would have recieved these loans a year before, who else shares in this fiasco?

Was it illegal to provide the loans?

that im not sure of, but i do think that the banks have a responsibility to take into accout all costs of living before granting these loans.I wonder if the people who are in this situation were misled by the low rates of adjustible morgages.
should a political party be blamed for something like this if they were "behind the wheel" and directly running the organization?

In a socialist government yes the government is responsible. Other than that I don't see it.

IMO the core of being a conservative it to be responsible for your own actions and not depend on government to fix every thing that goes wrong in America. I do think we should help those who need and deserve help. We do a poor job of being generous to those who aren't deserving and withholding help from many who deserve it. We have, over time, been programmed to think the gov. will fix everything and the individuals are less likely to help people and resolve problems.

Today I also heard a local radio show commentator name several democrats including Obama that benefited from FM/FM. He was saying this because of the blame game the democrats are playing on this issue. For two years congress has been dem. controlled and I think both parties should stop blaming each other and start doing there jobs. We do need government to help guide this country but too much government is not the answer.

When asked by a reporter," What would it mean if the surge worked? His response was "That wouldn't be good for us."
That's pretty sad. I THINK he was referring to the upcoming election and hoping that the war would be going bad so his side would win the white house. D. Charlie Rangel NY

Think Freddie and Fanny are bad? Those loans are all $250,00 or less. Wait till the bad Commercial loans start to default. How many restruants (chains) have you seen close down lately? I would hate to be the land owner who lost one of these tenents. Still making the loan payment + utilities +ins.+ real estate taxes etc. every month. Here in Florida developers have already started walking away from failed ventures in the Millions of dollars.

Its true. The change in legislation that began the fall of FM/FM began in the Clinton administration with the idea that the home loan industry should be more lenient to be more inclusive to those who cannot afford home loans any other way. And the Clintons placed their friends in charge to impliment the policy. Many at the time, mostly conservatives, predicted the fall.
This to me is an inherent problem with liberalism. Though it can be argued the idea of inclusion is noble, and many of my liberal friends are the noblest of people I know, it is naive to excess. The road to destruction is often paved with good intentions, and delusions of Utopia.

And its true that Democrats are the leading financial gainers of FM/FM associated campaign contribution money. Senator Chris Dodd #1, and Senator Barack Obama #2. Interesting that the Dodd FM Association has become public scandal but the media has pretty much left Obama alone.

It is amazing how the media will grill one and fail to mention the other like .......The media claims the obama is a regular guy and stands for the common person, but this dude spends 30,000 to fly him and his posse out the visit Barbra Streisand (while palin is grilled for spending 40,000 in one year) so as obama is with babs McCain is having dinner at a local pub with the town folk.
