Where can I find information about the maximum bead size you can use with a given wire diameter?  I have looked in the D1.1 and the AISC MSC 13th ed. but can't find it.  Is it in the A5.20 code?

try D1.1 in the prequalified tables

good question. D1.1 table 3.7 lists the max per process, but i have never seen anything that shows a max weld size per wire dia. i do not know that such a thing exists. common sense would dictate that there were such a table. for instance , it doesn't seem right that a person would be running a 1/2 inch fillet weld in the flat position with .030 GMAW in a single pass( could you imagine what that would look like!) but according to table 3.7 it is not prohibited.
