A friend of mine needs to make sure all of the welders in his department have the correct qualifications.

They weld A656 Grade 80 to itself, A572 Grade 50 to itself, and both to each other.  Procedures are qualified and WPS's are in place for all three scenarios.

Under D14.4, it states that the welder must be qualified for each group of base material he is welding.  Is it possible to weld a test coupon of 80 to 50 and be qualified for all three situations?  Or are three individual welder qualification tests needed?
