tare,

bryonlewis ,
How unprofessional. For someone who wants to get into NDT and visual inspection, boy you have a lot to learn about dealing with people. There are rules on this forum pertaining to respecting others, and derogatory comments! If someone is so clueless as to post a question on this forum in Spanish, then they get what they get. It was a little sarcastic but in fun, unlike your comment! If you have something to say to me i prefer that it be in the native tongue of this forum. Thanks.

I'm sorry, I guess I thought that this forum was made so people could ask questions and possibly get answers.  Other posts have discribed this forum as the best welding forum in the world.  Perhaps the administration should limit the questions to ENGLISH only.

As far as unprofessional, maybe I should've sent Tare a PM to try and answer the question.  I guess people who don't speak English shouldn't get treated like anyone else.  I never read that part of the user agreement here, I'll have to go over it again.  I would sumise that if people were offended by my comment, which I have censored since, that they can understand Spanish.  If that is the case then it would have been professional if not also courteous to just answer the question instead of trying to goof on the guy.  If there was a question in Mandarin Chinese I certainly wouldn't try to help, because I have no knowledge of the language.  But I do have some Spanish and French.  I was simply extending a professional courtesy to someone in need.

I had to dig a little for my data as well as my grammer.  But at least I attempted to answer the guys question without being "unprofessional".  I imagine that many have heard the old phrase, "If you have nothing to say, then don't say it".  I know for certain that there are many non native English speakers on this forum.  Their posts are constructed very well grammaticaly and are very intelligible, (and intelligent).  I have learned a lot from these posts and I appreciate the fact that ANYONE interested in learning about welding, whether for just reading posts or asking questions, can seek and receive the help they need here.

Although I am a native English speaker, and American, I am always offended by peoples' insensitivity to others.  I would suggest to some that they should check their own professionalism before trying to correct others.  All I was trying to do was to help someone that seemingly had a problem.  Like always I will probably be the fodder for BS.  Whatever!!!!

Gentlemen,
I just wanted to make a comment here. There used to be a "Spanish" section. I do not know what happened to it or why, but it seemed to be used.

Anyways, this is the American Welding society welding forum, but as we can all tell, many nationality's frequent this forum.

English is my first language, and I speak a little Spanish (very little) but I am far from fluent. I have translated as best I can, the preceeding post's that are in Spanish, German, and Dutch/Danish I think. I had a little trouble translating 3.2's post but I think I got pretty close.

I will just say, let's try to help the guy and maybe the admin./moderators will bring back the Spanish section, or maybe a all around foriegn language section where someone who does not speak English can try to get some help.

So without further derailment of this thread, ask yourselves, "If someone were to post in German or Dutch/Danish, would you have responded in the same manner?"

There is no need to repl, this is just a question to ask yourselves. If you would like to comment to me about it, please PM me or start a thread in the "Bar & Grill" and I will be happy to listen and discuss in a civil manner. :-)

BryonLewis ,
You stated:
I had to dig a little for my data as well as my grammar.

It also took me a little time for me to read and respond. We both were able to do this with minimal effort, as were others. The OP could have done this as well. When all other posts are in English, why post in another?

I don't know, hogan, perhaps the OP doesn't speak English.  That could be the obvious answer.  Its irrelevant, the guy had a question, I thought I had an answer.  One that he could possibly understand.  That seems to be a fairly decent practice.  I thought that is what the forum is for, to help people whom are interested in welding.  I don't know if you are a welder, but I have never used a welding machine with an accent.  Miller, Lincoln, Hobart, whatever, they all sound pretty much the same.

I think your missing my point.
