Just thought I would let everyone know. I just got my new Vantage 500 in the 300 frame. Best machine I have EVER used. beats the Vantage 300 and 400 and I have owned them both. It has a turbo charged Perkins and 22,000 watts AC power. you can run your house while you weld !

That is awesome man, i've heard about them, but when I asked the welding supply house here in bryan, they didn't know anything about it. Maybe one day I'll move up to the 500. Just wondering what is the weight on that beefy rascal.

Ya'll I really to this point have had no use for the Vantage. Simply prefer the old school look and simplicity of the 200s and Classics. But it is VERY impressive seeing it dialed up to 526 amps!
did he let you try it yet ? and we are alike i like the old school stuff myself but for the ac tools it would be nice they are alot cheaper and easier to find i really have to weld with 1 first before i could make myself spend that kind of money on a machine and even then i'd have to convince myself to spend it
I Have heard of them but haven't seen one. I'm glad to hear that it is a good machine I just don't need that much anymore.

If you know any one that has a good used vantage 400 300 let me know my girl friends son is about to finish trade school up and hit the road. cactus I called and put my name on the list out there in sept just need to know if your going to be needing any more hands or if i need to call back and relist? My uncle went past the yard last week was out that way hunting he said it looks like tons of work going on said looked like 100 rigs welding.

Guys, I have seen cactus' machine first hand and it is freakin' awesome! He sold me a 200 and I was really wanting his 500. ( don't tell cactus ) LOL . The S/S is blingin' , too !!! Goes good on his pimped black rig. About 75% of the guys in the yard were running vantages the day I was there. They must be good machines.
Cactus, I have the older vantage 500 (cummings engine). I have had it for 3 years. But it is is a house on my truck. I am curious about the one you bought. In the smaller frame. Do you still like it?

I dont get to run it enough to tell you about fuel but it does have a Turbo - Perkins in it. If it is anything like the 300 and 400 I have had it will be GREAT !
cactus, Have you run any 7018 with it. I am curious about what you set the dig at. I have been setting it at +2 for 6010.
I leave mine at around -2 for every thing. I ran it like that on my 300, 400 and now my 500. It all seems to run fine for me that way
I burned some rod with Cactus's 500 and never even checked the setting on it hell i never even got an upclose view of the machine he just threw the stinger at me and said run it so i did it welds real sweet up hill with 7018 you can get spoiled very fast using this machine
