Hi,
What PA, PG, PF, HLO 45 etc. stand for (which correspond to 1G, 2G, 3G etc in AWS ) as applied to European standards?

It is illustrated in EN 287, which is the standard used for qualifying welders.

Nandesh,

These are the EN 287 designations for welding positions.

PA = Flat (both butt and fillet)
PB = horizontal (fillet)
PC = 2 G
PD = horizontal overhead (fillet)
PE = overhead (butt)
PF = perpendicular uphill (both fillet and butt)
PG = perpendicular downhill (both fillet and butt weld)

Best regards,
Stephan

May I add HL-045 (6G) which might be the most used position for certifying welders.
