We are welding some Hastalloy pipe, and in the acceptance criteria is has .028 of non-metal surface inclusions are acceptable. My question is what are they referring to?I'm assuming it's a certain amount of oxide. We are working to D-17.1,and the welds were made autogenous GTAW.

AWS 3.0 2001

"Inclusion: Entrapped foreign solid material, such as slag, flux, tungsten or oxide."

In your case, it could be an inpurity in the base metal/filler or an oxide whichever is applicable.
