how long is rig welding going to slow down???
Parent - - By ross (***) Date 11-08-2008 20:38
Are you seeing a slowdown in rig welding now that the price of a barrel of oil dropped so much? Just curious.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-09-2008 00:59
Im not. We have a contract to build 1 rig every 6 months for the next 5 years
Parent - - By RioCampo (***) Date 11-09-2008 02:37
can you imagine the price of a barrel of oil in five years?
Parent - - By chris2698 (****) Date 11-09-2008 03:19
get use to rideing your bicycle LOL
Parent - - By RioCampo (***) Date 11-10-2008 13:27
I am gonna get me an electric bicycle and put all my stuff on a trailer and power it with my welder. That electric bicycle should run like heck plugged into a generator.
Parent - By chris2698 (****) Date 11-10-2008 17:11
LOL yeah why not
Parent - By McLovin Date 07-25-2009 03:53
So much for all that work.
Parent - - By makeithot (***) Date 11-10-2008 02:29
Not even a little. Still 24/7 with over time on top of the rig rate and if the phone doesn't stop ringing I'm thinking I'm gunna need another truck.
Parent - - By Cole Welding (**) Date 11-11-2008 02:59

Parent - - By Cole Welding (**) Date 11-11-2008 20:53

Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 11-11-2008 21:44

Parent - - By 4JWelding (**) Date 11-12-2008 01:10
Are you talking about Brady?  Me and a buddy both got layed off 3 weeks ago and are looking for work.  Both completely rigged out and can pass 6G test.  Would like to get on pipeline in North Texas region but will go where we have too to work right now.
Parent - - By snuffman (***) Date 11-12-2008 03:35
Pumpco in Cleburne, Tx is hiring they are a pipeline co. I sold an armature to a hand on a line in Carthrage today that said they might be hiring soon. If you want I can ask him friday when he calls for the more parts.
Parent - By 4JWelding (**) Date 11-12-2008 03:51 Edited 11-12-2008 04:12

Parent - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 11-13-2008 02:55

Parent - By snuffman (***) Date 11-18-2008 04:47
He said it was just a roomer they are not gonna hire anyone. Sorry He sounded confident when he said it.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-12-2008 21:04
4JWelding    You were not on my job. I haven't laid anyone off. I have replaced a few but I haven't layed anyone off.
Parent - - By 4JWelding (**) Date 11-13-2008 00:44
Cactus  My buddy and me were both working at Bronco in Duncan, OK.  We drug up from Spindletop in Gainsville thinking we had a good deal and it lasted about 2 months.  I believe we have a mutual friend still there now.  Didn't mean to imply that we where laid off from Brady just didn't know if Shad was talking about Brady when he asked if you could pass a 6G test or somewhere else.  Are you the same Cactus that chased Felderhoff rigs?  That's what I was doing before I went to work at Spindletop.
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 11-13-2008 02:52
4Jwelding ,   yes i was referring to the job in Brady when i replied i'm just trying to help out all i can guess i should of been more clear
Parent - - By 4JWelding (**) Date 11-13-2008 03:11
No problem I figured you were talking about Brady.  My buddy and I have both talked about trying to go down there.  It sounds like a good place to work with a good group of guys.  We've been trying to find something a little closer to home.  Brady is about 4 hours from the house and my wife and I just had our 3rd little one (our first little girl) and I didn't want to go that far unless I had too right now.
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 11-13-2008 03:15
I understand how you feel to make it short i have been thru hell and back this year so the farther from home i can get the better brady is 3 hours from the house
Parent - - By 4JWelding (**) Date 11-13-2008 03:42
Yeah,  I've followed your post from time to time since I've joined and had time to browse.  I wouldn't wish some of the things you've been through on my worst enemy.  You have to be a hell of a guy to keep on keepin on.
Parent - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 11-13-2008 15:59
All you can do is get up dust yourself off get some sharper spurs get back on and show them whos the boss thats what dad always said it works with horses lol
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-13-2008 15:03
Yes I am the same Cactus. I worked for Felderhoff for 2 years
Parent - - By Cole Welding (**) Date 11-13-2008 21:05
where do i get started????
Parent - - By rick harnish (***) Date 11-14-2008 00:53
Hey Cactus

Did you hire any of those hands I saw up there before I left?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-14-2008 11:05
I didnt hire but one more so far and he is starting today.
Parent - By rick harnish (***) Date 11-14-2008 15:01
Cool... saw a rig truck with a HUGE trailer on my side of the park going around in circles trying to figure out where to put it! Best I could tell at the end of it all, he ended up parking in the driveway! After all that trouble, hope he got on.
Parent - - By laynrocker84 (*) Date 11-17-2008 19:34
Cactus, how long will it be before you are hiring more pipe welders?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-17-2008 21:11
I hired 5 this morning
Parent - - By Wes531 (*) Date 11-18-2008 18:40
Will you be hiring again anytime soon?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-18-2008 22:03
Yes  I hired 3 more this morning and 4 more about an hour ago. It is 4pm now
Parent - - By pypLynr (***) Date 11-19-2008 01:20
So, does that mean I can come to Brady ? I would appreciate a response since I dropped 10 G's to work @ your job. Also , I would like to recieve my bill of sale on this lincoln I purchased from you .  My work ethic and persistence is unsurpassed and unless there's a lock on the gate keeping me out, I'm at work.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-19-2008 11:38
As soon as I get a spot to put you, I will test you AGAIN. I hired a few guys that passed the FIRST time. Im sorry that you had to spend money to work. SO DID EVERYONE ELSE on my job. Including me. If you think 10 G's is alot  Try paying for my rig. Im not sure what you spent 10 G's on. You showed up in a 1/2 Ton truck with a machine straped in it. Where are your tools. Where was you torch ? I could set you to test again in 30 days like some others have been told if you would rather I do that. DO not make the mistake of trying to put me on the spot or make it seem like it is my fault your not working. I PASSED MY TEST. You are welcome to drop by anytime and pick up a bill of sale. Or you can call my office and have one mailed to you. ANY MORE QUESTIONS ?
Parent - - By pypLynr (***) Date 11-19-2008 13:34
I wasn't trying to put you on the spot Cactus. I noticed in the above posts that you hired 12 and I hadn't heard from you thats all. You told me at the time that I would have to test again and I didn't have a problem with that because I came and tested cold with the machine I bought from you the previous day . I hadn't even welded with it when I tested. You also told me that you were only allowed so many rigs in the yard and that when the one guy ,who said he was leaving , left you would call me back to Brady. I don't mean to rub you wrong in any way  and I apologize for any misunderstanding on this matter. And by the way, my truck at the time of testing was a '06 3/4 TON Dodge SWB Cummins and I did have my torch and tools and four folding jacks and what ever else I would need . I purhased a '03 Dodge 3500 dually rigged out washtub to better do the job .I haven't owned a half ton since high school.  The only thing left to get is a 3-8 beveler. Again, Cactus I didn't mean any disrespect and I apologize for any misunderstanding. Please accept my apologies and I still would love to come work.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-19-2008 14:19
Like I said, When i test again I will let you know. The guys that have been hired were already tested and passed. WHEN i test again I will let you know
Parent - By pypLynr (***) Date 11-19-2008 14:24
Fair enough. If its going to be a bit , then I gotta go to work somewhere. Just let me know, please sir. Thank you.
Parent - By cwf07 (***) Date 07-25-2009 23:19
Are yall running the 6G test with 5P or 7018.
Parent - - By 4JWelding (**) Date 11-14-2008 00:55
I've heard a lot about you but never did cross paths with you.  I think you probably met my cousin "Pumpkin" but don't hold it against me I'm nothing like him.
Parent - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-14-2008 11:07
Yes I know PUMPKIN. He is one of those guys that give ALL welders a bad name and reputation. But, thats just my opinion. However, it seems to be the same opinion that alot of other people had.
Parent - - By JohnJohn (**) Date 11-14-2008 01:18
Cactus,

When are you going to test again and what kind of test are you giving?

JohnJohn
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-14-2008 11:09
Not sure when I will test again. I wish I could hire 500 welders but the company we are contracted to has a say so in how many I hire
Parent - - By Cole Welding (**) Date 11-14-2008 18:02
How is that best way to start out working my truck???
Parent - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 11-14-2008 19:03
