My dad sent me this. (enjoy) This helo made it back and both pilots survived..  Amazing.  Sorry for the crappy pictures. Somehow they went all screwy after I saved them to my P.C.

I do not think the shrapnel damage happened while the helicopter was in flight.  I think this was damaged on the ground.  With that much damage, the tail rotor drive shaft would have twisted in half and required an immediate autorotation.

I was thinking that about the tail rotor shaft too.  That has to be one of the most highly stressed parts.  How did it not break in flight?

Miraculous is more the word for it.  Somebody wore out a whole legion of gaurdian angels that day.
