Hi all.
I have two questions, can you help me?
1- I have a PQR 6G position with dimension of test coupon is 219OD and thickness 12.7 mm, single Vee qualified in accordance with AWS D1.1 standard. I can to apply for production welding for Corner joint or Tee joint full penetration ( Single Bevel or Double Bevel ) or not?
2- When I qualified PQR without backgouging then I can to apply for production welding with backgouging and/or without backgouging?
Best regards and looking forward to answer from you soon

I would want to read the entire PQR to see what all the variables were before I would jump on this question.

I believe your procedures are qualified for any joint details and welding parameters that fall within the ranges and conditions listed in Table 4.5 (I happen to be looking at D1.1-2004).

That being the case, you are qualified for any of the prequalified joint details as defined by clauses 3.12 (partial joint penetration groove welds) and 3.13 (complete joint penetration groove welds), or within the tolerances of figure 5.3 for grooves that are not prequalified, and fillets. You can weld with or without backing or back gouging.

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you with an answer.

Best regards - Al
