I have a friend who has three of the original glass AO cool blue filter plates.  I have seen these in a shade 10 and 12 (still have a 12 myself) but not in other shades.

One of the three my friend has is a shade 14.  Has anyone seen one this dark before?  I have already checked with him and he doesn't want to sell any of the three.  I worked with a boiler maker back in the late eighties and the ones he had were shade 10 and 12 but nothing darker.   Thanks for your time.

I like the orange. The one I have used is plastic and is what comes in the white Fiber metal hood. I have use the new cool blue and it is not bad . I think the slag really stands out when running a hot pass. JMO

I found an original still in the paper wrap stuck away on the shelf of my local shop. He said they didn't know they had any left and had no price for it anymore so I paid what the plastic ones cost!

I think it was a special coating that the whole glass was put in . I don't think it is two pieces put together.  I've never seen a 14 . That has got to be DARK ! I weld aluminum with a 11 and sometimes I grab the wrong hood for stick and I can't see . LOL     I can't imagine a 14 .
