D1.1 2006: According to 6.13.3 you can use the acceptance criteria in table 6.2 if if the tube is greater than 24 inches in diameter. Which acceptance criteria would you use for smaller diameters, say 16 inch tube if it has a wall thickness of  1/2 inch ? According to 6.27.1 (1) in the TYK joints, it states conventional techniques are used for diameters greater than 12.75 inches ,1/2 inch thick but does not state acceptance criteria. Would you use 6.27.1(1) as justification to use table 6.2 acceptance criteria for non TYK butt welds of 12.75 inch diameter and greater, if they are 1/2 inch thick ? Thank you.

Off the top of my head I would say that you would have to write a new procedure and the engineer would have to be involved in a new set of criteria for acceptance, probably with smaller transducers than secified for parf F.

Along with what trapdoor said, look at 6.20.2 (06)
