I have a Airco 225/200 Wasp welder generator, Welds great, but the AC seems to be high with no load. Don't want to hook up to house till I get the current down. Is it controled off the
RPMs?  Also if anyone has a manual, let me know what it would cost to get  a copy.  Thanks

I am not familliar with that machine, but an old Hobart I have runs at different speeds for welding and Aux power. Weld speed is 2200 RPM, and for 60Hz aux. power it has to run 1800 RPM.

My suggestion is to get a volt meeter and measure the frequency, with a meeter or by running an old fashoned clock from the aux. power and compairing to a watch. Get Your best compromise between frequency and voltage under load.

With the machine I mentioned I have to run more RPMs than I should to get enough voltage under load, and the frequency ends up being 70 HZ. Time flies... :-)

I have a manual for that machine-- just for info look at the manual for a Miller Bluestar 2e or Roughneck 2E.

same as a AC Wasp 225: http://millerwelds.com/om/o424e_mil.pdf

same as a Wasp III 200 amp : http://millerwelds.com/om/o419f_mil.pdf

All those machines wander around. If you are using this for serious power supply then you need to invest in a meter that can read true RMS and frequency.
