so cactus, when are things kickin back off? You said 5 more rigs, right?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-13-2009 17:28
Yes I did say 5 more rigs. And when we get the one that we just finished gets fine tuned on Location, we will start more of them. These rigs have a BRAND NEW type of drawworks as well as EVERY option and all of the bells and whistles you can imagine. Once the first one is complete, and all of the bugs are worked out, we will build more. In the meantime we are going to build some Mud Systems for smaller rigs in the Brady yard. They should start within the next 2-3 weeks. But, to be honest, I am enjoying some time at my house right now. I have only been here 2 times in the last 6 months for 1 day each time. SO........... I am not pushing the start date right now. Most of the welders who were there with me are enjoying some time off as well. We worked for 5 months working 7-12s and sometimes more. NONE of us are in a huge hurry

Hey Cactus. This is Bob Bowden. I''m Andy's friend thats talked to you a few times about the Shreveport yard. I haven't talked to you in a while, just wanting to give you time to get things going and not drive you crazy. I'm sure you get more phone calls than you want so I figured I'd do this instead. Danny Gibson and me still want to come down there if you'll have us. Just wanted to touch base and see where everything stands. My phone # is 940-642-6293
Parent - - By greg_1492 (*) Date 01-13-2009 17:39
Will those of us that were already working with you in Brady have to retest or just show up and start burning rods?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-13-2009 18:20
you only have to retest if you were gone longer than 6 months

I hope Loadcraft can still hire contract labor since they just laid off well over 60 people.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-22-2009 02:08 Edited 01-22-2009 02:23
Greg,   That has nothing to do with Contract welders. The ones they laid off were people that missed alot or built trailers, which they are trying to get away from in order to build rigs. I get my info from the owners of Loadcraft, directly, not a rumor from the shop or someone who does or used to work there. Greg remember this, I am well aware of who your friend is there and where you get your info. He is the same guy that ask me to hire you. Now, ask him how he found out I was coming in there for the last rig. He found out the day I showed up. I had been flying down there on Loadcrafts plane every week for 3 months. Also remember what I told you on the job one day awhile back. Sometimes it is in your best interest not to tell everything you know or ask the wrong people questions. It could cause you greater problems in the long run. As for Loadcraft, Let me do my job. And when it is time , you can do your job. If you want to email me a question send it to Cactus.Jack@loadcraft.com. Imagine that, I have Loadcraft email. Guess I didnt get laid off

Parent - - By greg_1492 (*) Date 01-22-2009 01:23
Hey Cactus, you said Loadcraft and someone  else for the rig jobs, who is the other besides Loadcraft?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-22-2009 02:09
I will let you know when its time to go to work. The welders will still all work for me and my company. Checks will still all come from me and my company. So i guess you might say you are building them for me
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-22-2009 02:28 Edited 01-22-2009 02:31
Im not trying to be a smart a#*, but damn, I answer every question I can. The guys that have been with me for a while will tell you one thing for sure. I always do what I say. I never lie to them. I dont build big rigs in the sky or pipe dreams. But Sometimes, when you are putting together a deal that cost well into the multi millions of dollars, things dont happen overnight. I will start the next one as fast as I can
Parent - - By greg_1492 (*) Date 01-22-2009 03:00 Edited 01-22-2009 15:19
Well, I sure as hell was not tring to piss you off, although it seems as if I did. I am new at this whole rig yard thing. I am just ready to get back to work. I'm not wanting to burn bridges, I'm wanting to build rigs. No disrespect intended. Call me if you want 325 998 6921
Parent - By greg_1492 (*) Date 01-22-2009 03:36
to everyone ok this site, including Cactus, I was not tring to call anyone out or be disrespectful I only want to work. Sorry if I upset anyone, as that was not my intention.
Parent - - By weldingjohn Date 01-26-2009 21:12

Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-26-2009 21:58

Parent - - By Smooth Operator (***) Date 01-27-2009 05:03
Cactus,  Have been following this job since it's kickoff last july . Whats the no. 1 question you get when you are ramping up ? Bet it's "when are we gonna start?", and then when your in production " when are we gonna have a day off " . At first I thought only ironworkers were like this ,but now realize it must be a bunch like this in every trade LOL . Also I noticed  hands that were "complaining" about the rate last year are trying to get on now ,hope you have a good memory:)  Good luck on the next batch and work safe      PS GO STEELERS AND PENS
Parent - - By tnhnt (***) Date 01-27-2009 06:49
Ya kind of seems like a big soap opera. Cactus has alot more patience than I do with all the phone calls and having to answer every question under the sun....
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 01-27-2009 14:06
I'm sure i'll get called every name in the book for saying this but dont really care i always call them like i see them and he is a pretty patient guy and easy to work for. Just do what your asked when your asked to do it dont gripe and complain and dont start any rumors and you got it made. If i can make it after being out of the game for 7 months anybody can.
Parent - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-27-2009 14:22 Edited 01-27-2009 14:41
THAT is pretty much all there is to it. No one seems to realize what I have said from day 1. First and foremost I am a rig welder. I have been for 28 years. I ALWAYS look out for the best interest of my welders FIRST. Best interest of the Company falls behind that. I REFUSE to let a company Screw the welders and beleive me, They try it every day. And then there are the bunch of welders who think they are better than the rest of us. They DO NOT stay around very long either. None of us are any better than the next. Attitude goes along way with me. I learned a couple of good peices of advice when I broke out as an Ironworker in the 80's. I never ask someone to do something that I am not willing to do. That is # 1 rule to me. #2 I always remember that the toes I step on today maybe connected to the as# I'm kissing tommorrow. I have gone a long way remembering those things. And the Biggest thing no one understands is this, I want them working as bad as they want to work. If they are not working I am making no $$

I should have filmed a daytime show, called " THE RIGS OF OUR LIVES "  Jerry Springer should come and visit us also.
Parent - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 01-27-2009 15:17
Jerry Springer would of had a field day. I could of wrote a book on the rumors i heard the 1st day i was there and then the plot thickens lol.
Parent - - By hojopens3 (**) Date 01-27-2009 18:46
can understand the rumour thing, been chasing rigs most of my life, if it turns to the right i have built it, fixed it, or fabed it, its the same everywhere, but you put together a good crew and the satisfaction of acompleted project cant be beat
Parent - - By Cole Welding (**) Date 01-28-2009 21:42
My thing is that i dont understand clicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Its like only if you know  or buddies with people you can go antmwhere but When i was building rigs i work and didnt give anyone no krap and i worked. And when i got laied off alone with everyone else no one wanted to help me all they did was snob me and now the only thing these same people want to talk to me about is if i am ready to sale my new 300D and other then that they dont wont nothing to do with me
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 01-28-2009 22:13
