I have test on 12" butt, this test was for AGL. What I am wanting to ask is what the inspector are looking for when you come out to test on pipe lines and what test do they give.

normally it is a 6G and usually API 1104 code SMAW. Inspection is checking the angle, the fit, the gap, pipe temp. your bead......arc burns, grinder marks......all the other fun stuff.

Do they still do the branch test

Right now everybody is pretty much testing on 1/2 of the line pipe, ie if the line pipe is 42" .611W the welder will weld half of a 42" .611W, plus usually a branch, and sometimes a LoHi sleeve. It varies tho from gas company to gas company.
