If a welder certifies on a standard 1/2" thick fillet weld test, is their minimum dia. pipe restriction for his qualification?

Min  Diameter   is   24  "

Is there anywhere in D1.1 that specifically states limits or is this an inference? If we look at B2.1 it specifically states qualification of fillets on pl. are restricted to 24" dia. pipe. Thanks for your comments

Yes, and the diameter Limit depends on which code your working to!

Per AWS D1.1

I agree, the minimums are 24" and 1/8" wall thickness

See note g, two plates are required 3F and 4F

Dan,
Look at Table 4.10.  A fillet weld test on plate qualifies a welder within the process and position tested for only fillet welding on structural plate and tubulars.  There is no diameter restriction, but Note h applies which means there is a dihedral angle limitation.
