Hi everyone

Im working out of D1.1-2000. I cant find that grade material in Table 3.1 or as an Annex M material. I know if they are not listed in either to qualify to section 4. Im curious if this material is listed in a group # in  table 3.1 in a later edition ?

Thanks

cfrancis,
D1.1 2008 table 3.1 does not show it.

Yeah, they don't even show it in the code approved steels requiring qualification for some reason.  It's tensile range is 689 MPa so it's within the limits.

Yes,,I agree with you all. I was unable to really understand why it's not there either ?  Can "legally" just go ahead and qualify it under section 4 ?

I don't see why you couldn't because you will be able to meet all the sec4 requirements with the proper recipe.  Are you doing groove welds with this stuff or just fillets?  I have to qualify some fillet weld procedures here in the near future using the 656 gr80.

Hi

yes,,I agree with you. As long as I qualify it under section 4,,should be OK.  We are doing fillets and grooves. So I think I will do a 3/8" single Vee groove in the 1G. Then Im ok for 1and 2F as well..
