Dear you all,

We are fabricating some piping for our client, the applicable code is ASME B31.3, when we do fit-up inspection then all of our inspector don't know what tolerance for Misalignment, could any body help me to answer how many mm that permited for Misalignment in ASME B31.3?

Thank you very much and looking forward to hearing from you soon.

You need to get a set of PFI standards. ES-3 is the applicable standard for your question.

Go to K328.4.3 [B31.3 code]
and also look at Figure K328.4.3.
This will tell you  alignment or misalignment.
If i tell you the answer, then you'll never learn!!

Cong Nguyen,
If you are a Welding Engineer and CWI you should have a copy of the fabrication code you are working to.
Go to the index and look up misalignment and that will tell you what page, then you will have your answer.

Welder5354,
You have quoted Section K which is High Pressure Piping.

Regards,
Shane

If our client clear difine in their specification then it is easyer for me, but in project specification do not mention for misalignment tolerance. Thank you any way!

well it depends on what the customer specs. the code can tell you the way it should be done but sometimes the customer specs are a little more tougher. so first the question i should ask is, how could you have more than a few inspectors and none of them that deal with b31.3. its like the other guys said get the code and look up misalignment and hi-lo. most people or more concerned with the internal hi-lo for the root pass, so they get a good root.
