We ran a fillet T-coupon with ASTM-A693 Type 630 Condition H1150 to ASTM-A230 and we would like to substitute the ASTM-A693 for ASTM-A564 Type 630 Condition H1150. Both ASTM-A693 and ASTM-A564 are unlisted in D1.6 which points me to Table 4.1 WPS Qualification Variables #1.1 (Page 80):

"A change in the base metal group shown in Table 3.2 or in base metal type if unlisted (Table 3.2)"

I can not find "type" defined in AWS D1.6 or A3.0 but, both materials have the same UNS number, chemical composition and "type" according to my 2007 Annual Book of ASTM Standards Volume 01.03 (Pages 260 and 352). So, my impulse is that the D1.6 "type" is the same "type" as in ASTM 01.03 and that this material substitution would be allowed under D1.6. Does anybody disagree?
