How does one start his path to become a CAWI? Go to the seminars? Buy books? I am curious.

To start the CAWI path you have to take the CWI exam and not pass with 72% but you need at least 60%.

What are the materials that you have to study, I've looked at several links that people have given me and I found there are quite a few books, Do I need to purchase those books?

Look at the materials that are given out with the seminar.  That would be a good place to start.  You need to decide which code you are going to test to and get that book well in advance.

Do you also strongly suggest going to all 3 of the seminars?

I picked up some things that I didn't get in my own studies and I could ask questions that helped me with other areas that were a little gray in my comprehension.  So if you can afford it I would do it.

What are some of the things that I have to know?

Page 8 on this link will give you the general body of knowledge for the CWI tests.

This is a very inauspicious question!?!?!?!?   A CAWI is a person who fails the examination or who is otherwise unqualified to perform inspection!

Now,Why would anyone like to know how to fail?!?!?

It appears that you did not read the AWS B 5.1 Qualification Document that Bryon Lewis posted for you, nor the AWS QC-1 Certification Document.

This is not a good way to start!

No one, and I mean no one wants to be a CAWI unless you they don't have the required relevant work experience. The CAWI can not work, i.e., perform inspections, etc, unless there is a CWI present to supervise and within audible hearing distance.

As Joe mentioned, the CAWI is typically someone that failed the CWI.

Best regards - Al

Well I am sorry. I did not know where to start. And I did read those documents.
