I hear you , brother . If these sell ... I'll make some ,too !!! LOL          Nice work , tho.  Good job . A special twist you could do with them is color matching them for the customer . Then they would be worth that .  You know , if the guy has all red ... then paint them red for him .  Just a thought .

too much money for a some-one alse idea, I made my abuot 15 years ago from a old pipe welder/fitter's clamp for free

Please inform me, what/whos company makes these?? And who has this type of thread? Just for a patents sake if anything LoL!!!

Its a very good idea, just wonder how many returns you might get if the color was off or not matched right??, as they are know ,the cameleon color cost enuff for sure, the are built heavy duty enough to keep-on keep'n on for some time, You can get replacement parts for the clamps for almost every part, they have made my work alot easier over the years fabbing, its the kind of welders helper that doesnt get tire of holding the pipe or loosens there grip...

Well , you could offer a basic color chart for the customer to choose from . That would eliminate the return issue . If they order a red ... they get a red . Or green ,or yellow ,etc. They could see the color before they order . Just a thought ...         Oh , and if they want a 'custom' color that isn't on your chart ... upcharge it !

It might just happen, we have sold enough that the extra color chart might be a do-able option....

Do I get a kick back for the idea ?  LOL  How about a couple of clamps to 'test' ? I will offer myself as a field tester .

Its not all thread, it is a patented fast thread, move to the left approx 1/2 turn unlocks, then you can lift or lower the handle without screwing up or down and slowing your work process down, then about a 1/2 turn to the right when tightening locks the thread, then you can tighten as needed. The pad ends are also removable , change from the v end to the flat for bigger pipe. Most I have seen are made with a threaded shaft that walks off the pipe, are a small diameter and bend, or they put a makeshift union on them to get the end to swivel, then when the clamp thread is raised it actually tightens as it goes up, etc etc,

As for our clamps, they work, been using mine for years, service parts are avail if needed, dont have to lose a weekend building and mocking up clamps with standard thread counts and non swivel ends.

I like them. I think that at 80-90 bucks, they are a good deal if you need them. Unless you guys can make them better and/or cheaper...  Time is money too.

Lafnbowtie, "patented fast thread", looks like an acme thread to me. What angle are they cut at if you don't mind me asking?
Parent - By Lafnbowtie Date 04-21-2009 15:56 Edited 04-21-2009 16:04
Its not and ACME thread,( that would be kind of hard to patent wouldnt it?, since its in about in every hardware store in the lower 48?? LoL!!) , simply place a bid on one of the E-bay links above and you will have all the info right in front of you in 3-5 days,( depending on your zip of course) and yes, its a patented combo, good luck with your purchase ,the clamp has helped me in pipe fab work for quite some time, Id go broke trying to feed my family by selling these clamps LoL , near zero real profit after all the costs are taken out, the real family feeder is pipe weld work which I do everyday...
