Check this one out - an e-mail I just received.  It made me laugh out loud.  Are there really people out there gullible and stupid enough to believe something like this and send someone their personal information?

We hereby bring to your notice that a Diplomat with a consignment that was to be delivered to your residence has been stopped by us. This is as a result of the United States of America security measure to avert and combat any form of terrorism and money laundry through the sales of illegal drugs locally and internationally.
During our investigation, we found out that the consignment contained the sum of US$3.7 Million which upon further investigation revealed that the fund is your inheritance. We have done our due diligence and have confirmed that you are legitimate beneficiary of the fund, and it is no threat to National Security. Consequently, your consignment will be delivering at your residence by the diplomat without delay after all protocols have been duly observed.
During our interrogation on why this fund was not transfer to your bank account, the diplomat revealed that some people want to divert this your inheritance fund, so he decided to act fast by moving the fund through this means. We hereby advise you to discontinue any further dealings with any other person.
However, before the delivery is made we need you to reconfirm the following information, so that the delivery will be made accurately.
Full Name:
Residential Address:
Date of Birth:
Occupation:
Telephone/Mobile Numbers:
We await your response.

This sounds like the kind of thing senile senior citizens would be sucked into, but they are not known for being prolific on the Internet.  Maybe it is some hacker kid with an elaborate hoax.  I suppose if it is out of the country it is hard to track down.

CIRCULATION OF FRAUDULENT E-MAIL CLAIMING TO BE FROM U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION (CBP)
4/27/2009 FBI news release - new e-scams and warnings:

04/27/09--A spam e-mail claiming to be from former CBP Assistant Commissioner Thomas S. Winkowski is currently being circulated. This attempt to defraud is the typical e-mail scam using the name and reputation of a federal government official to create an air of authenticity.

The spam e-mail indicates the CBP has stopped a Diplomat who is carrying a consignment to be delivered to the recipient's residence. This consignment allegedly contains millions of dollars, which is revealed to be an inheritance for the e-mail recipient.

As with many other scams, this e-mail advises the recipient they will be permitted to access this inheritance once the recipient has given the sender of the e-mail their personal information.

This e-mail is a hoax. Do not respond.

The U.S. CBP does not send unsolicited e-mails. Consumers should not respond to unsolicited e-mails or click on any embedded links, as they may contain viruses or malware.

It is imperative consumers guard their personally identifiable information (PII). Examples of a person's PII include, but are not limited to: date of birth; social security number; and bank account numbers. Providing your PII will compromise your identity.

If you have received this e-mail, or a similar e-mail, please file a complaint at www.ic3.gov.
