Well we are going to give this chain type bevel machine a try. I know that it is more susceptible to operator error than the other styles, but it covers a larger range of sizes. I have enough links to go up to 24" and can order more links if needed. Maintenance is assembling it and hooking up hoses to it. Hopefully it will pay off in the time not used to grind the bevel after cutting.

I have always liked those. What did it set you back?

They work just fine. BE SURE to do a dry run before cutting. This squares the machine up with the pipe. Also when you think you have enough tension on the chain tensioner give it a little more. If your doing gas pipe you can run the machine right on the epoxy coating, when making the dry run fire up the torch and burn the coating off as you go. If it's plastic coating you must remove all the plastic and adhesive where ever the machine will travel. Ted

Thanks for the advice. Luckily we do not work with coated pipe. It is all clean HSS. :-)

Not a bad price. Have you used it yet? Whatcha think?

Not yet. Maintenance got it all assembled and ready to go but right now we are cutting a bunch of square HSS. I hope to get time to make some cuts tomorrow.
