I have been told that CJP sub-arc welds on the project I am working on MUST be back gouged and welded. This is being done to satisfy the profile requirements. This really defeats the purpose of the backing bar. Does anyone on this forum have experience in this area. Are there certain backing bars that will achieve the desired results without GTSM? We are working to D1.1.
