Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / Vision System - Automated TIG?

We have an automated aluminum TIG welding process that we'd like to monitor via some micro-CCD cameras.  Can anyone recommend a company that makes very small cameras that are easily controlled for this?  We currently are using stennis cameras but they are bigger than what we need.

thanks.

Have you checked out Arc Machines Inc or Liburdi Dimetrics?  Both make vision systems for TIG that are fairly small and of high quality as both companies do extensive work in thick (5") narrow groove TIG.

In the Stenning system, the camera itself is tiny, about 1/2" diameter and 1-1/2" long.  It is motorized focusing lens that makes the assembly large.  I had purchased a used micro CCD camera off Ebay, just like the one used with the Stenning system, and it came from an Endoscopic medical application and had a fairly small manually adjustable focusing head on it.  Maybe a smaller manual focus would work for you.

The Dimetrics and Arc Machines systems are excellent I know, and as with any of these things, very costly.
