I am aware that you can weld up-hill or down-hill if you are certified in that position and the WPS states so. My question is which electrodes can you weld down-hill with. I did not see any information on the manufactures instructions reguarding progression of welding. If it is all position electrode does that imply you may weld up or down? Also can you tell me where if can find this info in writting? Thanks!!

...check out the Pipeliner DH80, DH90, DH100 in the link above. It specifically states the progression as downhill.

SMAW electrodes with the number "4" in the next to last position of the classification are specially formulated for downward vertical progression. That isn't to say you can't use other electrodes, it is simple a case where their flux covering isn't formulated specifically for that application.

E7048
E8045 (that's a new one for me, I haven't seen it before)
