Hello everyone, I'm sure many of you have seen this one, yet, when it was sent to me I couldn't help thinking that some folks actually believe they have the technology to beat the safety odds. Enjoy and best regards, Allan

Alan,

Those are really classic.

It grieves me to say I have seen even worse.  Back in the 80's when on a boilermaker field job in Nevada, one of our new hands pulled in with a 5th wheel unit mounted to the roof of his station wagon.  There was hardly any added reinforcing done to strengthen the roof mount area.  And he was proud of it.

Lord, just keep me off the road when these guys are anywhere in the vicinity.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

Brent,
Sounds like that hand might have been trying to duplicate this. LOL

I like that "clamp on the gutter" mount. Too bad newer cars don't have gutters.

Interesting application John,

I wouldn't want one.  Personally, I don't feel that is secure I don't care who designed it.  I can't see that being a reliable connection even with a very light trailer.  In an emergency stop or accident things are going to come apart.

People pulled trailers for years behind cars that I wouldn't consider a wise move at all.  Many got away without ever having a problem.  But the safety factor just isn't there for me.  No Thanks.

Have a Great Day, Brent

It probably wouldn't be that hard to roll that Bug over in a hard manuver, with the load being applied to the top of the roof - if the mounting remained attached.

I bet that poor bug went through a few clutches

What's wrong with that?  All the car needs is more weight in front to hold the tires on the ground.

You gotta give him an -A- for effort.

Nice idea, I just hate to see what happens if he has to make an abrupt stop going 40-50mph.
