A242 at one time was listed in D1.1 as a prequalified base material, Group 2 I think. I don't see it listed now. Can some one help me out with this?  I have a job that requires a242 (Type 1) HIGH STRENGTH SELF WEATHERING STEEL.  Can some one help me with this.

Yep, sometime between 1992 and 2000 it got dropped as a prequalified material. If you were to use it now you would have to run a coupon using it as an unlisted material

Thanks Rickc. Do you know why they droped this material? I still have jobs out in the field that we used prequalified wps's on back in 1996 - 2000. I wonder what the problem was?  It would be interesting to know why they changed this.

Not a clue. We were in a similar boat when they dropped A514.
FWIW, you're old procedures are still good under the current standard by 4.2.1 on Page 124 of D1.1:2008.
