My mom made some hats for me a long time ago.
She took a very dirty and abused hat that I had used for years and decided that it was time to replace it without letting me know about it.
she then surprised me with seven of the most unique (for that time/late seventies)welding hats I've ever seen!
When I asked her how she made these "fit so perfectly on my head" she replied, " I took that old dirty smelly hat that you could'nt find anymore and I made the hats by carefully disassembling the old one to make a pattern for the new hats."
My mom also made sure that the fabric/material she used was nonflammable and today, you have new materials/fabrics that are
fire retardant. remember if your man is conservative then,ask him what colors to use. If not, the more color the better!
