this technique is used in cannonball welding.
i have no knowledge of welding actually, but some one asked me to collect info on it.
Could any one here advise me? i 'd extremely appreciate it.

If you fine any pictures please post them, never heard of cannonball welding.

i was told that this technique is used to weld cannonball and appears only in israel. no more info. that's why i'm here...

Sounds like one of those middle eastern jokes to see how guliable we Americans really are,   nothing in any of the AWS Welding Handbooks or the Jefferson Welding Encyclopedia, Let me see a PQR and WPS.

All of  the PQR 's  and  WPS's  were done  in   this country   in  1968.

Professor John Zotos  of Northeastern University  in Boston   did some  of  the  early  work in  conjunction
with  Boston Naval  Shipyard  for  welding   of  high pressure piping  basically  with  socket weld  fittings.

I got  to work  there  on  one of  my  co - op  jobs.

I had heard of welding dissimilar metals such as aluminum and steel. Tim Gary here on the forum mentioned that the Navy used explosion welding to bond aluminum plates to the steel decks of Navy vessels. Here is another article that speaks of this....
