Hello,
What tool do you use to test the rpms on an SA 200?I have got an old Dwell/tach meter. It has two leads one red and one black.Do you hook the black to ground and the red to the stud on the mag?????Do want to just try it because its a borrowed meter.Plus I don't want to damage the mag.The welder has enough problems.
you need a hand hel tach made by stewart warner and pout it on the end of the exciter
Jeez shad how many beers did you have before you posted? LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
stone cold sober not a good typer what can i say
AWWW just joshin ya hope yur havin a good day pard
i know you were just kidding no big deal
It's okay Shad. Your keyboarding is hit and miss but what you described will work jsut fine. lol T
i know the stud on the mag is a ground. im not sure if it would work if you put your hot there from the tach. but im not sure, just posting.
Sometimes you'll find those handheld tachs on ebay. Auto supplies here carry them for pumps but I've seen them in the McMaster Carr catalog before too.

Be close but won't get as good or same reading off a tach goes on spark plug wire with inductive clamp on deal. Don't hook directly on wire lead or the terminal it's for the stop switch only. Will fry the meter or induce battery voltage into the mag and fry the coil in it!
