I use a Fibre Metal with a Skullguard hardhat. Some cheaper brands are lighter, but the Fibre Metal is the most durable. Aside from wearing a pancake when welding pipe, I wear mine all the time, even in the shop. It saved me a lot of bumps and bruises hanging iron and chasing rigs. I stay cooler without wearing a cap under the hardhat and still have a full head of hair. Since suffering severe heat exhaustion 11 yrs ago keeping the noggin cool is a top priority. It will take some getting used to, especially doing wellheads because your hood tends to slip if not adjusted properly.
